Maynard Leslie Guptill

Maynard Leslie Guptill - 84, of West Brooklyn, Kings County, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017 in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville. Born on June 6, 1933 on the homestead in West Brooklyn, he was a son of the late Manning and Cora (Atwell) Guptill. He had been employed with Canadian Keyes Fibre, Hantsport for 37 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Lockhartville Tug-of-War team when they became Maritime Champions. An outdoorsman, Maynard enjoyed cutting and splitting wood, fishing, hunting and trapping and was a member of the Kings County Trappers Association. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lorraine (Cogswell), West Brooklyn; a daughter, Linda Theriault (Blair Patterson), Hantsport; a son, Les (Wendy) Guptill, New Minas; two sisters, Frances (Bernie) Thorpe, Lockhartville; Mildred (Ken) MacKenzie, Kentville; a brother, Medford Guptill, Hantsport; grandchildren, Steven (Kaitlin) Guptill, Jonathan Guptill, Mitchell Theriault, Nathaniel Theriault and Michelle Theriault; three great grandchildren, Ava, McKenzie and Aubrey. He was predeceased by two brothers, Murray Guptill and Manford Guptill. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2017 in Kingsway Assembly, Belcher Street, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 29, 2017, Reverend Terry Penney officiating. A private family burial will take place in the West Brooklyn Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to Kingsway Assembly or Evergreen Home for Special Care. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville, Nova Scotia.
