Douglas Eugene Fitch

Douglas Eugene Fitch – 77, of Berwick, passed away peacefully, with his wife by his side, on Monday, July 3, 2017 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kentville, he was a son of the late George and Marjorie (Bennett) Fitch. He retired as Director of Maintenance East with VIA Rail and had been active in the Centreville Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, the former Marjorie Ellen Balsor; two daughters, Debra Anne Longley, Berwick; Darlene Elizabeth (Brian) Stott, Montreal; a son, Darren Douglas (Tabatha), New Germany; two sisters, Geraldine (James) Pedlow, London, ON; Carol Sutton, New Minas; a brother, David (Wendy), Dartmouth; five grandchildren, Justin, Ryan, Brittany, Johnston and Madison; a great granddaughter, Sadie; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by an infant son, Gerald Eugene Fitch; an infant great granddaughter, Jemma Daisyanne Cook-Longley. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral service by request. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory  may be made to the Annapolis Valley Palliative Care Program, the Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses or the Centreville Baptist Church. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Valley Regional Hospital, Medical A, for their kindness, care and compassion. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville, Nova Scotia.
