Leslie George Karayz

Leslie "Les" George Karayz - 63, of White Rock, NS passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 25, 2017 with his loving wife by his side. Born in Tillsonburg, ON, he was the son of Cora (Karayz) Pineo, Wolfville, and the late Leslie Karayz. Les worked at different jobs, before working for Clifford Long & Sons Ltd mill in White Rock for 34 years. Following closure of the local mill, Les went to work for the Village of New Minas, and was well liked and respected by his co-workers. In his spare time, Les enjoyed hunting and fishing, and doing odd jobs for people in the community. In addition to his parents, Les is survived by his wife of 29 years, Valerie (Munroe) (Brown); step-sons, Richard (Marilyn Atwell) Brown, Kentville; Michael A. Brown, Kentville; step-father, Malcolm Pineo, Wolfville;  sisters, Debbie Abdel-Kader, Pennsylvania; Donna (Robert) Smith, Brooklyn; Diannah (John) Storrie, New Minas; Mary (Mathis) James, Caledon, ON;  as well as grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service, as per his request. The family would like to thank the staff of the VG Site, QEII, especially the hematologists, the Valley Regional Hospital, Dr. Peter Segato, and VON palliative care program services for their assistance and comfort at this time.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
