Well-known Annapolis Valley Stone Mason passes away

 

Robert Grant "Bob" Buchanan - 81, of Greenwich, Kings County, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2017 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on January 23, 1936 in Grand Pré, he was a son of the late Arthur and Beulah (Morine) Buchanan. He owned and operated his own masonry business, Buchanan Masonry and Classic Masonry. He was proud of his work and it can be seen in many homes and businesses throughout the Annapolis Valley. He is survived by sons, Michael (Loretta), White Rock; Dana (Natalie), Canaan; daughters, Lisa (Dale) Eye, Port Williams; Lynn (John) Eye, Canaan; grandchildren, Melissa Eye, Calgary; Meaghan Eye (Greg Neal), New Minas; Candice Buchanan (Duane King), Canning; Carlena and Mitchell Eye, Canaan; Lucas and Alicia Buchanan, Canaan; great grandson, Anderson Grant Neal, who he was so proud of; sisters, Ruby (Elbert, deceased) Thompson, Granville Ferry; Starr (Peter) Dukeshire, Rawdon; Barbara Buchanan (Rick Milbury), Middleton; brothers, William "Bill" (Shirley), Kentville; Douglas (Jean, deceased), Wolfville; Bruce (Linda, deceased), Kentville; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Diane Patricia (Mitchell) (2008); sister, June; brothers, Archibald "Archie" (Sharon, deceased) and Richard "Dick" (Margaret, deceased). Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2017 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Trent Cleveland-Thompson officiating. A private family burial will take place in the Lower Horton Cemetery, Grand Pré. The family would like to thank Dr. Mulherin, the Emergency staff at Valley Regional Hospital and the Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses who helped care for Dad so he could remain in his own home for the past few months. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
