Florence "Eileen" Forsythe

1921-2017

Florence "Eileen" Forsythe

Florence "Eileen" Forsythe – 96, of Wolfville, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 11, 2017 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, with her daughter by her side. Born in Woodville, Kings County on July 31, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Jennie (Moody) Hale. After finishing school, she became employed at Acadia University, where she met her husband, the late Grant Forsythe. Eileen led a very active life and for many years you could find her seven days a week behind the counter of Forsythe’s Grocery Store on Maple Avenue, Wolfville. Many times she would run from the house to the store to wait on the next customer, while raising six children. In her younger years, she enjoyed gardening, hunting, playing the mouth organ and attending yard sales. Following the closure of the store, she continued to live a very active life, walking to and from town, visiting family in British Columbia, quilting, crokinole, attending variety shows and the Silver & Gold Club, bingo and making daily trips to Tim’s where she would meet up with old friends and share a joke or two. Eileen’s heart was very generous and she was always giving to others. She will be highly remembered for her quick sense of humour. Eileen would want to be remembered for always having a positive attitude throughout whatever life sends your way and staying as active as possible. She is survived by four children, Dewey (Darlene) Forsythe, Abbotsford, BC; Georgena (Ron) Forsythe, Oliver, BC; George (Lynn) Forsythe, Mission, BC; Brenda (Todd) Davison, Lumsden Dam, NS; two sisters, Phyllis Porter, Lakeville; Marguerite Roll, Florida and Lake Echo; two brothers, George, Woodville and Laurie, Cambridge; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Grant Forsythe; two sons, Richard (Sheila, deceased) and Bernard (partner, Lorraine, living); two sisters, Marion and Jennie; four brothers, Douglas, Al, Clayton and Keith; a great grandson, Hillary.
