Webster C. Lenihan
Webster Clayton Lenihan, 98, formerly of New Ross, Lunenburg
County, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2017, at Valley Regional
He was the son of the late Harry and Flora (Skerry) Lenihan. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He was a loving, kind, caring Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Great Great Grandfather. He was the pillar of the family and held that status until the day he passed away. He worked in the woods all his life, with the exception of a few years in the late 50's and early 60's when he worked with the Dept of Highways. His main love was always in the Christmas Tree Industry and he held the title of being one of the first to start the Christmas Tree trade in New Ross. He exported trees to the United States for many years. He was in his 90's when he decided he could no longer work in his beloved industry.
He is survived by: Sons Basil (Joan) and Barry (Mona), both of New Ross and his Daughter Mavis (Jack Kaulback) of Coldbrook; Grandchildren Tim (Julie) Edmonton, Kathy (Delbert) Mahone Bay, Pam (Barry) Chester Basin, Robert (Crystal) Centerville, David (Annette) Bridgewater, Janette (Stephen) Lower Sackville, Andrew (Glenda) Chester, Krista (Frank) Bridgewater; Great Grandchildren Justine Bowlby, Bethany, Rachelle, and Jodie Lenihan, Evan (Kaitlyn) and Spencer Williams, Devin and Aaron Lenihan, Ashton and Aaron Kaulback, Lauren Rayne, Adam Lenihan; Great Great Grandson Liam Williams.
He was predeceased by wife Jean (Naugler) who passed away in
2010, two weeks after celebrating their 69th wedding Anniversary;
Sisters: Inez Mahaney, Margaret Fox, Hazel Hiltz and brothers Beecher,
Stanley, Ralph, Clarey and Manning; numerous nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank the following: Eric and Paula Morine, with whom Dad resided for almost a year, as well as Cindy, Brenda and Trish, along with Paula, for the excellent care they provided and to Eric for the wonderful "talks" they had; Dr. White for his compassionate, professional service and also to Dr Ian Verryn Stuart for his kindness to Dad both professionally and personally for over 30 years.
Cremation has taken place, under the direction of White Family Funeral Home. There will be no visitation. A celebration of his life will be held at Christ Church, New Ross, on October 12, at 11 AM with Rev. Fran Boutilier and Canon Russell Elliott officiating. Private burial in Christ Church Cemetery. Following the burial the family will greet friends and relatives at a reception held at the Royal Canadian Legion New Ross Branch No. 79. Family flowers only, please.
