Joyce Elaine (Fraser) Lewis

Joyce Elaine (Fraser) Lewis - 88, of Grand View Manor, Berwick, formerly of Greenwich, Kings County, slipped away quietly Sunday, October 15, 2017 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, after a nine year battle with Alzheimer’s. Born in Feltzen South, she was a daughter of the late Richard Spindler and Gladys (Ritcey) Spindler. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, great grandmother and recently, great great grandmother, to whom family was always very important. She is survived by her husband, Melvin Lewis, Aylesford; a daughter, Linda (David) MacDonald, Upper Dyke; a son, Brent (Christine) Fraser, Kentville; three step-children, Dianne Lewis, Campbellford, ON; Mel Lewis Jr., Quebec; Mary Jo Lewis, Quebec; four grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a great great grandchild. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her first husband, Merl Fraser; a son, Dwight; three brothers, Eric (in childhood), Leroy and Algean Spindler. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 23, 2017 in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. Donations in memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or the charity of your choice. We would like to express our gratitude to the extended family at Grand View Manor where she resided the past 5 years. We thank the staff for their compassion, kindness, support and friendship. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
