Phillip Austin Pineo

Phillip Austin Pineo - age 78 of Hillaton, Kings County passed away peacefully after an illness on October 26, 2017 surrounded by family and friends. Born in Glenmont Mountain he was the son of the late Clark and Isabell Pineo. He is survived by daughters, Wanda (Neil) McNeil, Kentville; Wendy (Stephen) Taylor, Habitant and son, Michael (Betty) Pineo, Canard; brother, James (Marion) Pineo, Hillaton; sister, Julia (Arthur) Dykens, Hillaton; grandchildren, Shannon (Mathew) Phillips, Habitant; John (Reina) Taylor, Hillaton; Aron (Melissa) Taylor, Canning; Ryan (David) Pineo, Burlington, Ontario; Ricky (Carla) Carter, Wedgeport; Mitchell (Emily) Carter, Kentville; Tara (Fraser) Caldwell, Habitant; Lindsey (Chris) McNeil, Grande Prairie, Alberta; Rebecca (Evan) Pineo, The Look Off. He is also survived by sixteen great grandchildren and dear friend, Shirley Barkhouse. He was predeceased by his wife, Marilyn; daughter, Kelly and son, Robert (in infancy); as well as brothers, Audley, Albert, Hartley, Paul (in infancy) and sisters, Mary and Wava. Phillip was a kind and loving family man who enjoyed working outdoors, fishing (especially with good friends and family in Ross Creek) fly tying, playing cards, playing guitar, and making his own sauerkraut to share with one and all. He was employed for many years by Canada Packers and Scotts Rendering. He realized a lifelong dream this summer by traveling the Alaska Highway to Whitehorse with family. There will be no funeral or visitation by request. There will be a celebration of life held at the home of Shannon and Mathew Phillips in Habitant on Saturday November 4th from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice. Special thanks to the VON for home care as well as nursing care, Dr. Ann Gordon, Wendy Bransfield RN, Dr. Robert Mullan, Dr. Karen Burch and the palliative care team as well as Emergency Health Services NS. A very special thank you to Shirley Barkhouse, Ryan Pineo and Fraser Caldwell whose tireless efforts enabled Phil to spend his last days in the home he loved.
