David Patrick  Hobson

David Patrick Hobson – 85, of Cambridge Kings County, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville surrounded by his family. Born in Dartmouth, NS, he was the son of the late Edward and Cecilia (Smith) Hobson. He served in the Canadian Navy retiring after 23 years. He later worked as a salesman with Cornwallis Chev Olds for many years. David was an active member of the St. James Anglican Church, Kentville and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Laurel Chapter 67 and Valley Masonic Lodge No. 90, both in Berwick. He was a former member of the New Minas Lions Club. David was a loving husband and father. He loved to hunt and fish and also enjoyed special times at Tupper Lake. He is survived by his wife of 63 and a half years, Gladys (Hutt); a daughter, Tracey Hobson, Kamloops; four sons, Michael (Diann), Dartmouth; Steven (Carolyn), Oakfield; Barry, Kamloops; David (Connie), Coldbrook; 10 grandchildren, Janet, Lorraine, Lindsay, Robert, Maggie, Shanon, Jacob, Miranda, Jessica, and Tamara; nine great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. David was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by brothers, Edward "Teddy", John, Harry, Gerald and Harold; sisters, Mary, Kay and Helen. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2017 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, beginning with an Order of the Eastern Star and Masonic Lodge service to be held 7:00 p.m. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017 in St. James Anglican Church, Kentville. Reverend Doctor John Roddam and Reverend Catherine Desloges officiating. Burial will take place in the Garden of Rest Cemetery, Kentville. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to St. James Anglican Church, Kentville. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
