Nola Ruth (Clarke) MacLeod

1939-2018

Nola Ruth (Clarke) MacLeod

Nola Ruth (Clarke) MacLeod, February 8, 1939 – January 1, 2018, age 78. It is with profound sadness the family announces the passing of Nola. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Born in Grafton, Nova Scotia, she was a daughter of the late Allison and Ruth (Condon) Clarke and sister of Janet (George), June (Ken), Diane (Dave) and John (Peter). Many of her fondest memories were of growing up in the valley, and after graduating from the VG Nursing Program, she married Dr. S. Clair MacLeod of Prince Edward Island. After living in Halifax for many years where they started their family, they returned to the valley in Port Williams. Family summers were spent on Darnley Beach, P.E.I.  She will be missed immeasurably by her children who remain ever grateful for her presence in their lives, Ruth L. MacLeod (Shawn), Port Williams; Marilla A. MacLean (Colin), Halifax; Kempton B. MacLeod (Beth), Mississippi; David S.C. MacLeod (Karen), Moncton, N.B. Adored by her grandchildren, Amma will be fondly missed by Katie MacLeod-Stroud, Ottawa; Mollie and Lewis MacLean, Halifax; Rebecca, Emma-Kate and Noah MacLeod, Mississippi; Camden and Jack MacLeod, Moncton, N.B. Nola was loved by nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. She will be dearly missed by many special friends. Nola was a mother to more than her four children and provided support, comfort and advice to many. She proudly boasted she made the best apple pie and those lucky enough to sample it always agreed. Family thanks to Dr. Alison Wellwood for her compassionate care. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation, Carey-Me Fund (in support of palliative care in the home). A funeral service followed by a reception will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2018 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Ivan Norton officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeville, Kings County. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
