Irene Marie Weatherbee

Irene Marie Weatherbee – 82, of New Minas, formerly of Wolfville, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018 at home. Born in Dartmouth, she was a daughter of the late George "Bob" and Genevieve "Jenny" (Morrow) Hilchey. She had been employed as a printer with Babcock’s Printing and Stationary for many years. She was a Life Member and former secretary of the Royal Canadian Legion, Dr. C.B. Lumsden Branch No. 74, Wolfville. She is survived by a brother, Donald (Irene) Hilchey, Comox, British Columbia; her best friend, Merriam Sullivan, with whom she enjoyed daily conversations and the weekly Lexicon; many nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was predeceased by her husband, Lewis; an infant brother, George and a brother, Kenneth. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. with a Royal Canadian Legion service to be held at 7:30, Sunday, January 21, 2018 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 22, 2018, Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating . Burial will take place at a later date in the Willow Bank Cemetery, Wolfville. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to best friend, Merriam, Dr. Mossman, homecare and to Reverend Gary Manthorne for their care, kindness and compassion. Donations in memory may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion - Dr. C.B. Lumsden Branch No. 74 or to a charity of your choice.
