Bruce Islay Blair Campbell
Bruce Islay Blair Campbell - 83, of Kentville, passed away suddenly, surrounded by family, on Monday, February 5, 2018 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Noranda, Quebec, he was a son of the late David Blair Campbell and Dorothy Helen Mary (Willards) Campbell. Our Dad moved to Nova Scotia at an early age, attending Kings County Academy where he met and fell in love with Dorothy at the age of 15. He was a graduate of the Radio College of Canada and joined the family business, Campbell’s Electric in Kentville with his father where he was one of the first to bring satellite TV technology to the Valley. He later opened and ran Highland Park Convenience where he enjoyed talking with and staying connected to the community, retiring in 1994. Together with his late wife, Dorothy, they ran Wee Folk Kindergarten in Kentville teaching, entertaining and helping many, many of Kentville’s children. Bruce loved spending time with family, a good meal, so often at the hands of his good friend and companion, Sheila (Campbell) and enjoyed playing the bagpipes, listening to classical music, flying his airplane out of Waterville over to Moncton for coffee and boating from Kingsport to Parrsboro for a meal. He also spent many hours on his boat hauling kids around Murphy Lake and exploring Fancy Cove and visiting friends at Aylesford Lake. He is survived by his children, Scott Campbell, Halifax and Leslie Campbell (Mark Rogers), Kentville; two grandchildren, Matthew and Moriah Campbell; companion, Sheila, New Minas; son-in-law and good friend, Andrew Palmer, Coldbrook; a sister, Janet (Gavin) Kendrick, Woodstock, ON; a brother, Dougall (Audrey) Campbell, Bowser, BC; niece, Mary Lee Beach, Kentville; nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Dorothy (Lovelace). Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, February 11, 2018 with prayers to be held at 6:15 p.m. in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 12, 2018 in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Kentville, Father John MacPherson officiating. Burial will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Kentville. Donations in memory may be made to a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
