Laurie Edward Griffin

Laurie Edward Griffin – 88, of Hall’s Harbour, Kings County, passed away peacefully, Sunday, March 4, 2018, surrounded by his family. Born in Port Williams, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Shaw) Griffin. Laurie was a lover of the land, his family, and all animals, especially draft horses. He spent many hours over the past few years listening to music in his home on the mountain. He is survived by children, Laurie "Skip" (Debbie), Morden; Jo-Anne Griffin (Douglas MacDonald), Sydney Mines; Brenda Griffin (James Arenburg), Brow Mountain Road; Joy Ward (Donald), Nicholsville; special nephews, Rick, Wesley and Gary Laird; brothers, Richard (Carol), Welsford; David (Sandra), Upper Canard; grandchildren, Shannon, Bradford, Michelle, Owen and Erin; great grandchildren, George, Justin, Maisy and Ruby; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Julia (Weatherbee); sisters, Kay, Eileen, Mary, Verna and Ardyth; brother, Robert (in infancy); special nephew, Gregory; great granddaughter, Julia (in infancy). Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2018 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Elizabeth Johnson officiating. Burial will take place in the Fox Hill Cemetery, Port Williams. Following the burial, a reception will be held in Lockwood Hall at the Port Williams United Baptist Church. Donations in memory may be made to the Western Nova Scotia Draft Horse Association. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
