Rita Williams

Rita Williams - 92, of Kentville, formerly of Ottawa, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Swansea, South Wales, she was a daughter of the late Elizabeth (Lewis) and Thomas "Tom" Thomas. Rita served with the British Land Army during the Second World War. She met her husband and moved to Canada where she lived a long, healthy and active life. She was an avid walker, especially enjoying the Jack Pine Trail in Ottawa, where she walked with her late husband and Miner's Marsh in Kentville. Rita also enjoyed watching birds and wildlife, was an accomplished watercolorist and had been active with the Kentville Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Louise (Mick) Chawner, Ottawa and Paula Williams (David Currie), Black Rock; two sons, Andrew (Susan Snowdon), Kentville and Jamie (Lisa), Harbourville; five grandchildren, Gregg, Anne, Janine, Rhian and Emma; nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her husband, Wesley; two sisters, Faye and Molly; a brother, Michael. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2018 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Doctor David Bielby officiating. Donations in memory may be made to the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
