Keith Edward Strong

Keith Strong - September 26th 1955 - April 16th 2018

It is with deep sadness and much love that we announce the passing of our friend, Keith Strong. Keith founded L’Arche Homefires in 1981 with his friends, John MacNeil and Jeff and Debbie Moore. He passed away peacefully at his home, Burnside, surrounded by friends who loved him, after a lengthy journey with Alzheimer’s Disease. Keith was predeceased by his parents, Angus and Katherine and siblings, Tina, Karl and Ronald. He is survived by his family, Dorothy (David) Siscoe, Carolyn Strong, Nancy Blanchard, Donna (Wayne) Balsor, Richard (Wendy) Strong, Brian (Linda) Strong, nephews and nieces. Keith will also be greatly missed by his chosen family at L’Arche Homefires. As a younger man, Keith enjoyed his work at the Flower Cart where he was a valued employee for 29 years. He was also an active member of the Greenwich United Church - his ministry of hospitality and welcome was appreciated by his church family. Keith has changed the lives of hundreds of people, welcoming them with a firm handshake and proudly showing them his home and community. Keith enjoyed many things - Subway, Elvis, politicians, Toronto Maple Leafs, a beer as he watched hockey, prayer, bowling, stretch limo’s, people in uniform, dancing and friends. During his inspiring speeches he always reminded us to live in HOPE. Over the past years, we learned the importance of journeying with Keith as his needs changed. He taught us about the importance of faithful relationships. His passing has left a hole in Burnside house and our entire community and we miss him terribly. Please join us to celebrate the life of this amazing man. Visitation will take place at the White Family Funeral Home in Kentville on Thursday April 19th 6pm - 8pm. Funeral service and reception to take place on Friday April 20th at 1pm at the White Family Funeral Home, celebrant - Rev. Robyn Brown Hewitt. Interment will take place at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Keith may be made to L’Arche Homefires, 341 Main St., Wolfville, Nova Scotia, B4P 2N5 or on-line at Canada Helps.org. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. On-line inquiries and condolences may be directed to www.whitefamilyfuneralhome.com.
