Cecil Freeman Russell

Cecil Freeman Russell – 92, of Kentville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at home. Born in Aldersville, Lunenburg County, he was a son of the late Stanley and Grace (Bezanson) Russell. He had been employed with Nova Scotia Power for over 20 years and later worked with Goodwear for over 25 years. He helped reestablish the Blue Mountain Community Association and enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage and Skip-bo. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Welton); a daughter, Nancy Russell (Ron Mapplebeck); three sons, Frank (Judy) Russell, Brian (Bobbie) Russell and John Russell; son-in-law, David Schnare; three sisters, Jean Aalders, Dorothy Robinson and Alice Aalders; three brothers, Avery (Diane), Percy (Phyllis) and Gary (Heather); 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Linda; a son, Kirk, two daughters-in-law, Cathy and Marg; a niece, Connie; two brothers, Robert and Stanley Jr. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2018 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2018, Reverends Jack and Audrey Carter officiating. Burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Family flowers only by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Valley Regional Hospital – Carey-Me Fund (in support of palliative care in the home) or the Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
