Frederick Austin Sheppard

Frederick Austin Sheppard – 74, of Coldbrook passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kentville, he was a son of the late Frederick and Mary Sheppard. Frederick had been a cook at Camp Aldershot and later traveled the province as a steel worker, retiring from the physical plant at Acadia University. Frederick enjoyed baking, his flower garden, fishing, hunting, camping and loved convertibles, especially the Mazda Miata. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude (Clark) (Pineo); a daughter, Tammy Duncan (Barb), Kentville; a son, Brad (Darla) Rafuse, Kentville; step-daughter, Renee Pineo (Bill), Falmouth; step-son, Todd Pineo, Northern ON; grandchildren, Christian Rafuse, Calgary, AB; Kirk Rafuse, Kentville; Richard Schofield, Kentville; step-grandchildren, Justin Wilson, Ryan Thomas, Zach Thomas, all of  Falmouth; sisters, Mary Varner, Kentville; brothers, Thomas (Connie), New Minas; Daniel, Centreville. He was predeceased by his first wife (Tammy and Brad’s mother), Maxine (Davidson) Sheppard; sister, Georgina Taylor; brothers, Zeke, Ronald and Hugh. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and nurses of the surgical floor and emergency room of Valley Regional Hospital for their wonderful care, kindness and professionalism. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2018 in the Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeville, Reverend Ellen Hunt officiating. Donations in memory may be made to Kidney Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, NS Lung Association or a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
