Raymond Elroy Shay

Raymond Elroy Shay – 72, of Kentville, passed away Friday, May 4, 2018 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kentville, he was a son of the late Elroy and Catherine (LeBlanc) Shay. He had been employed with CN Rail as a crane operator for 30 years, working in Toronto, Moncton and Winnipeg, from where he retired. He was an avid card player and drummer. He loved spending time with his family and was very fond of his grandchildren, whom he face-timed every Sunday. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nancy (McGee); a son, Mark (Erin), Winnipeg; grandchildren, Kayley and Hunter; three sisters, Theresa, Gladys and Nancy; two brothers, Donald and Darrell. He was predeceased by two sisters, Sharon and Darlene (in infancy); two brothers, Daniel and David (in infancy). Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2018 in the New Minas Baptist Church, Reverend Daniel Cormier and Reverend Sterling Gosman officiating. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Huntington Society of Canada.
