Kathleen L. "Kaye" Jordan

1927-2018

Kathleen L. "Kaye" Jordan

"The song is ended, but the melody lingers on... Irving Berlin" Saddened hearts announce the passing of Kathleen peacefully in her daughter Marjorie’s arms. She was a dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and dear friend. She was born in Wolfville, NS to Marjorie (Bent) & Clifford Robinson at apple blossom time. She raised her family until they could take care of themselves, then worked in Kentville at the BFM Hospital CSR for 13 years before coming to Calgary as a special nanny to her granddaughters. She lived in Calgary for 39 years, reprising her nanny role for other children and building a lot of friendships. She returned to Nova Scotia in 2016 when dementia became a risk factor and stayed with family until the fall of 2017 when the disease progressed to the point where she needed more care.

She was a proud, deeply independent woman who loved her hula and tai-chi classes as well as the Bowview Elder Day Program. She deeply cared for her family and friends, loved home making, dancing, music, humour, a good hot cup of tea and a bargain. She enjoyed being back by the ocean and had many excursions to the nearby seaside while she was living here.

She is survived by daughters: Marjorie (Bill) Hockey, Boutiliers Point; Marian, (Tim) Jordan-Scapillato, Wakefield, PQ. Granddaughters: Jennifer, (Steve) Hockey Mullen; Jillian, (Dave) Hockey-Arsenault; Janet Hockey; and Lauren (Greg) Millette, of Ottawa: Great grandsons Emery and Everett Hockey-Arsenault, Ottawa. Sisters: Joanne Williams, Winnipeg and Carol, (Terry) Adams; Brothers: Norman, (Anna); Craig and Darren Robinson; Nieces: Lisa, Shanna Williams, Alexandria; Lisa Hammond; Kathy Mahodil; and, Glenys Buhrman. Nephews Michael, Norman and Graham: two step-grandchildren Sadie Scapillato-Hall (Jesse Hall), Nick Scapillato (Michael Jones) and two great-step-grandchildren Olivia and James Hall.

A huge thanks to the staff on Princes Lane and Sullivans Lane at Parkstone Enhanced Care, Bayers Lake. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society will be appreciated. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request. The funeral service and reception will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 28, 2018 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville.
