J. Frederick "Fred" Crossan

The Crossan family regrets to announce the passing of J. Frederick "Fred" Crossan, age 72, on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 in the Valley Regional Hospital Kentville with his son, Robert Crossan; his daughter, Barbara Crossan-Parker, both of Edmonton and his sisters, Catherine and Ann, by his side. Born in Berwick, on October 16, 1945, he was the son of the late James and Emma "Lou" (Nash) Crossan. Fred was a 50 year member of the Kentville Volunteer Fire Department serving as both lieutenant and captain.  He also worked at Phinney’s Men’s Wear and The Kings’ Arms Pub. Fred was a familiar face on the Kentville scene and was dedicated to his home town.  He had many friends among local residents and he was devoted to his family.  Fred was a high school hockey star and later an avid golfer. He had a ready sense of humour, an unerring sense of truth and uncompromising willingness to help others. He is survived by his son, Robert; daughter, Barbara (Terry) Parker; sisters, Ann, Catherine and Julia and grandson, Aidan. Besides his parents, Fred is predeceased by his brother, Andrew (1971). Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2018 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Pastor Herb Anderson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Valley Regional Hospital. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
