Marion Althea Irving

1936-2018

Marion Althea Irving

Marion Althea Irving - 81, of Baxter’s Harbour, Kings County, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018 in the Wolfville Nursing Home. Born on November 9, 1936 in Lower Canard, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Winnifred (Frail) Irving. She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth (Irving) Rogers; brother-in-law, James Rogers; two nieces, Karen Rushton and Dawna Kelly; nephew, Steven Rogers plus several grand nieces and nephews. She was a devoted teacher and taught in Dartmouth, Steam Mill, Medford and Wilmot. She was an active member of First Cornwallis Baptist Church, Canard, sang in the choir and then became organist and choir director for many years.  Marion loved music so very much.  She sang with her Dad and uncles in a quartet and also she and her sister sang duets for many occasions. At the nursing home, she was always delighted when musical groups came to entertain. When thinking of Marion today, the lyrics of this song come to mind, "stepping on shore and finding it Heaven, and touching a hand and finding it God’s; and breathing new air and finding it terrestrial". Oh how delighted she must be to finally be home. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, June 17, 2018 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 18, 2018 in the First Cornwallis Baptist Church, Pastor Stephen Wheaton officiating. Burial will take place in the Canard Burial Ground, Canard. A reception will follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the First Cornwallis Baptist Church.
