Josephine June Mooy

1937-2018

Josephine June Mooy

It is with great sadness that the family of June Mooy announce her passing on July 2, 2018 at the age of 80 years. Known and loved by many, the ‘Mayor of Murphy Lake’ had an incredible effect on all that crossed her path in life. Small in stature, yet larger than life, June had many amazing friends. Numerous conversations, laughs and wines were had overlooking the beautiful lake that she loved for over 50 years. No one could ever say they didn’t know where she stood on topics, as June was always candid, but no one questioned how big her heart was. Fiercely protective, forthright and independent, June fought valiantly against the cancer that ultimately took her away from us far too early. June spent many volunteer hours over the years supporting her community, including her local MLAs and the Kentville Curling Club. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, spending time with her grandkids and sitting in her swing down by the lake. June loved all animals, especially Scottie dogs and her adopted dog, Bentley. Among the many saying goodbye are sons, Mike (Jane); Eric (Kim) and John (Emma); daughter Patti (Frank); sisters, Maureen and Brontie; grandchildren, Jenna, Beth, Emily, Matthew, Lauren, Thomas and Willem. There will be a private gathering of close family and friends at Murphy Lake to celebrate June’s life at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
