Shirley Clifford "Cubbie" Wood

It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Shirley Clifford "Cubbie" Wood of Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville, formerly of Glenmont, announces his passing on Monday, October 16, 2018 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville at the age of 85. Born in Glenmont, he was a son of the late David and Annie (Oakden) Wood. Shirley was a farm and mechanical worker as well as an avid hunter and outdoorsman.  He was a member of the Valley Search and Rescue team.  He idolized his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marlene (Abbott); daughters, Sherry Dempsey (Wade Miller), Berwick; Anna (Stephen), Dalton, Cambridge; Crystal (Bill) Ahearn, Kentucky, USA; son, David, Berwick; sister, Myrna Melvin, New Minas; grandchildren, Ginny Ripley (Willis), Oromocto, NB; Mikaela Wood, Noelle Wood, Deven Dalton, Ceilidh Ahearn; great-granddaughter, Addison Ripley; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Frank; sister, Mildred Brown; brothers, Foster, Harold, Willie and Vilroy, in infancy. Cremation has taken place.  Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2018 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where a funeral service, followed by reception, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 19, 2018, Chaplain Chris Wickens officiating. Burial will take place in the East Halls Harbour Cemetery, East Halls Harbour. Donations in memory may be made to the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
