Sheila Jean Munday

Sheila Jean Munday – age 70, of Berwick, passed away surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on January 25, 1948, in Berwick, she was a daughter of the late Robert H. and Minnie C. (Clarke) Redden. She is survived by her husband, Michael "Mike", Berwick; daughter, Sara (David) Hazelton; treasured grandchildren, Bret, Alyssa and William Hazelton, all of Truro; sister, Judy (Al) Hale, Cambridge; brother, Bruce (Sybil) Redden, Berwick; aunt (the last surviving Clarke in Minnie Clarke’s family), Jean Stacey, Wilmington, Delaware; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her twin sister, Sandra (Redden) (Bezanson) McGrath. Sheila grew up in Somerset and attended Central Kings Rural High School and Mack Business College and worked for several years at the Berwick Bakery. After her marriage, she worked at Eaton’s in Moncton, the Town of Berwick, Elections Nova Scotia as a returning officer for Kings West, and for over 30 years was employed with Kent Fields Estates. Sheila was dedicated to her family and her community. She was a long time member of the Liberal Party and volunteered for the Canadian Cancer Society, the Berwick Lionettes, Christ Church Anglican Church Women and Berwick Gala Days. The last few years had seen her help coordinate a successful dinner theatre at Christ Church. Shelia loved her home with her pool and gardens that she and Mike lovingly tended. She had a knack for making everyone feel welcome in her home and hosted many reunions and parties in the backyard for her extended Clarke family. She was rumoured to be the best cook in the area. She had close friendships with many, enjoying lunches out and shopping trips away. Her greatest joy was her husband, daughter, son-in-law and cherished grandchildren. She spoke proudly and lovingly of them to all she knew. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and the community at large. Cremation has taken place.  There will be no visitation, by request. A funeral service, with reception to follow, will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in Christ Anglican Church, Berwick, Reverend Mel Malton officiating. A private family interment will take place at a later date. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to Christ Church Memorial Fund or Growth in Ministries Fund, Valley Regional Hospital – Palliative Care, the Canadian Cancer Society or the Lupus Society of Nova Scotia. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
