Josef Mark Heger
Josef Mark Heger – 83, of Arlington, Kings County, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2019, with his wife by his side, in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville. Born on February 2, 1935 in Garsten, Austria, he was a son of the late Franz and Katharina (Lehner) Ziehesberger. He trained to be a denturist in Steyr, Austria. He immigrated to Canada in 1956 by ship to Montreal, Quebec and then by train to Vancouver, British Columbia. He worked in a dental lab until 1966 and then opened his own denturist business, retiring in 2004. In September, 2004, he moved to Arlington and suffered a stroke in June of 2009. He lived at the family home until February of 2017 when he moved to Evergreen Home for Special Care. He enjoyed hiking and skiing in the mountains. He loved working in his vegetable gardens and nurturing his fruit trees. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Hermine; daughters, Claudia (Jodie) and Angela (Anthony). He was predeceased by half brothers and half sisters. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2019 in the Canning Baptist Church, Pastor Pete Lindeman and Reverend Phillip Locke officiating. Burial will take place in the Arlington Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to Evergreen Home for Special Care or the Canning Baptist Church. The family would like to thank all those who have provided excellent care to Josef since his stroke.
