Frederick Kelcie "Woody" Wood

Frederick Kelcie "Woody" Wood - age 88, of Coldbrook, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 in Shannex – Blomidon Court, Greenwich. Born in Glenmont, he was a son of the late George "Harold" and Leona Ruth (Ells) Wood. Frederick served with the Royal Canadian Navy, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer with 25 years of service. In retirement, he returned to the Navy and was employed as a refit inspector. He later worked with Scotian Gold and Michelin in Bridgewater. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kings Branch No. 6, Kentville. He is survived by his daughters, Brenda (Ken) Morton, Woodville; Sherry (Mark) Pineo, Berwick; Sheila Skidmore, Maple Ridge, British Columbia; sisters, Barbara (Gerrit) Faber, Coldbrook; Georgina Taylor, Habitant; brothers, Ronald (Sylvia), Coldbrook; George (Joan), Truro; grandchildren, Ashley (Nathan) Bent, Aylesford; Sarah (Greg) Coolen, Chipman Brook; Jillian (Keith) Horne, Coldbrook; Nissa (Derek) Pleasant, Edmonton, Alberta; Johanna Morton (Leon Dominey), Centreville; Jamie Skidmore and Joel Skidmore, both of Maple Ridge, British Columbia; great-grandchildren, Jed Coolen, Lena Bent, Lawrence Bent, Bailey Morton, Lucus Morton-Dominey; Masyn Morton-Dominey; Carter Holmesdale; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Lily (Bennett); sister, Helen Nord; infant brother, Frank. Cremation has taken place.  There will be no visitation, by request. A combined Royal Canadian Legion and funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2019 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Burial will take place in the East Halls Harbour Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
