Kenneth Holmes Pringle

1938-2019

Kenneth Holmes Pringle

Kenneth Holmes Pringle - Passed peacefully from this earth in the presence of family on April 11, 2019 at Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville. Born in Antigonish on October 19, 1938, he was the son of the late Kenneth Pringle and Hazel (Holmes) Pringle. Ken grew up in Mulgrave as part of a loving and extended family and often referred to his childhood as idyllic. He attended school in Mulgrave to completion of Grade 11. Then, completion of Grade 12 required a move to St. Peters, Cape Breton where he resided with other students in a home away from home, a time that generated fond memories. Until no longer able to travel, Ken looked forward to happy visits to the family home in Mulgrave and to his Pringle roots at The Points, Cape Breton. A graduate of Dalhousie School of Pharmacy, he worked in the industry for over 30 years, initially at Wilson's Pharmacy in Berwick and retiring from Lawton's Drugs after many years in Halifax. Ken loved classical music and live theatre and visited New York City frequently over a forty year period to indulge his passion for Broadway and for many years enjoyed season tickets to Symphony Nova Scotia and Neptune Theatre. A lifelong Anglican, he was a dedicated and active congregant as well as sacristan of St. George's Anglican (Round) Church, Halifax and looked forward to monthly Eucharistic visits during his stay at Evergreen which began in 2013 as a result of advancing Parkinson's Disease. While able to do so, he participated fully in the life of the Evergreen community and derived tremendous pleasure from the extensive gardens surrounding the home. Ken is survived by sisters, Thelma (Truman) MacPherson, Mulgrave and Marjorie (Tony) Nette, Morristown; nieces, Marjorie Paulette MacMillan, Sherwood Park, Alberta; Amy Jackson, Newmarket, Ontario and Laura Szilier, West Chester, Pennsylvania in addition to great nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. Remains are resting at the White Family Funeral Home in Kentville with visitation on Monday, April 15, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. A service of Holy Communion will take place at St. George's Round Church, 2222 Brunswick Street, Halifax at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2019 following visitation in the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Father Nicholas Hatt and Father James Purchase will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date in the Berwick Cemetery. The family extends thanks and appreciation to the compassionate, dedicated and caring staff and administration of Evergreen who respected and supported Ken's autonomy and independence even in failing health. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to St. George's Round Church, Evergreen Home for Special Care or charity of choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville, Nova Scotia.
