Patricia Meagher

Our beloved Aunt Pat passed away peacefully on May 2, 2019 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, after a brief illness, with her family by her side. She was 86. Pat was born on March 16, 1933, in Boston, Massachusetts and was the youngest daughter of the late James and Alwilda (Keddy) Brougham. She spent her early years in Quincy, Massachusetts and in 1942 she moved with her family to their home in Port Mouton, NS. In 1956, a few years after graduating from Liverpool Regional High School, Pat moved to Dartmouth with her family where she worked as a bookkeeper for Dominion Stores and also for the City of Dartmouth as a payroll clerk. After marrying Ken Meagher in 1971, she worked for the family fuel oil business. When Ken sold this business, Pat went to work for Rand Auto Electric and then for the Department of National Defense, retiring in 1997. Pat was a member of the Summerville Christian Church in her younger years and a charter member of the Wyndholme Christian Church in Dartmouth, NS, where she sang in the choir and served on various committees. Pat was a long time resident of Waverly, NS, where she was a member of the Waverly Volunteer Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary. She also belonged to the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and was a volunteer with the Maritime Fiddle Festival. She enjoyed listening to live music, watching curling, attending the Nova Scotia Tattoo and being active with her many friends in her community at Russell Lake Estates. Pat was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Ken; her sister, Evangeline (Vannie); her nephew Budd’s wife, Elinor. She is survived by her nephews, Douglas Miller, Dartmouth and Kenneth (Budd) Miller, Port Williams, as well as Budd’s sons, Randy Miller (Martin), Ottawa; Scott Miller (Carmen); Steven Miller (Melanie), Mount Denson. Pat was a special Aunt to Jessica, Jillian, Abby, Sam and Max Miller, as well as to Ken’s niece, Paulette Innis (Tom).
