1927-2019

William Dauphinee "Bill" Zinck

William Dauphinee "Bill" Zinck - age 91, died peacefully at home, in Berwick on October 17, 2019, with his loving wife by his side. Born on December 18, 1927 in Hebbs Cross, Lunenburg County, he was the only son of the late William and Melba (Cook) Zinck. Bill grew up and worked on the family farm until his late teens. His first job outside of the farm was with Industrial Shipping Co. of Mahone Bay, and later with Powers Brothers in Lunenburg where he started his apprenticeship in the plumbing and heating trade. Taking evening classes at the vocational school in Halifax, Bill earned his trade certificate and became a licensed plumber. Looking for better employment opportunities after practicing his profession in Nova Scotia, he travelled to the United States and became a licensed plumber in the State of Massachusetts. In 1979 Bill moved back home to Nova Scotia where he started his career with Michelin Tires Canada. After retiring in 1991, he enjoyed volunteering his time helping others and pursuing his passion for woodworking. His sage advice was valued by many and his quality crafts can be found in the homes of many friends and family members throughout Canada and the US, as well as a number of churches and museums. Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years, Hazel (Nieforth); son, David (Karen), Denison, Texas; grandson, Shaun (Jala), Richardson, Texas; granddaughter, Kathryn Zinck, Denison, Texas; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and his long-time friend, Gary Smith.
