Judith Mildred Rafuse

Judith Mildred (Nix) Rafuse - age 73, of New Minas, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at home. Born in Berwick, she was a daughter of Phyllis (Ware) Nix, Grand View Manor, Berwick and the late Ralph Nix. Judith graduated from the nursing program at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital in 1967. She began her career at the Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre and in 1992 went to work at the Valley Regional Hospital, from where she retired in 2006. Judith enjoyed reading, quilting and spending time with family and especially loved being "Grammie" to her grandson, Tyler. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Greg, New Minas; daughter, Karen (Greg) Ward, Garlands Crossing; grandson, Tyler and sister, Linda Nix, New Minas. Besides her father, she was predeceased by her sister, Joyce Ward. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service by request. Burial will take place at a later date in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. The family would like to thank the palliative care team, VON Annapolis Valley, Bruce Coldwell and doctors and nurses of the oncology department at the Valley Regional Hospital for their care, kindness and compassion. No flowers, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
