Karol Fader Aalders

On November 6, 2019 at 6:00 a.m. the world stopped for a moment while Karol took his last breath after a long four year battle with cancer. He never let his illness define him and continued to live his best life. Born on August 31, 1943 in Kentville, he was the middle child of the late Charles and Lillian (Corbett) Aalders. Karol was a roofer for over 50 years working in Kentville for TP Calkins, Kentville Build-Up Roofing and starting his own roofing business in January 1977 to pursue his own ventures and to support and provide for his family. He continued to grow the business until retirement in July 2016. He was a man who couldn’t stop and smell the roses, because he always wanted more roses. As much as he worked, he always put his family first. He is survived by his wife, Donna (MacGowan); children, Karl (Corrine), Mark, Charlie (Wanda) and Kati (Jason); grandchildren, Nathaneal, Leah and Lilee-Mae; great-granddaughter, Justyce; brother, Peter (Annette); sister and brother-in-law, Ellen and Bill Boyd, who were always there for him; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Gail Coleman; in-laws, Ralph and Thelma MacGowan. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Karol’s life, with reception, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 15, 2019 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Thank you, to the oncology department, Dr. Merryweather and staff, VON and palliative care (Katrina and doctors), for everything they did. A special thank you to Clayton Collins for the moral support. It would have been a lot harder without them. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the oncology department of the Valley Regional Hospital or Annapolis Valley VON.
