Laurence Gilbert Mailman – 89, of Kentville, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2019 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, with his loving wife and children by his side. Born in Clementsport, he was a son of the late Gilbert and Pearl (Rice) Mailman. Laurence began his career (Automobile Mechanic) at Walter Harris’s Garage, Annapolis Royal. Following short term employment with D.A.R, returning to his "life work" beginning at F.W. Robinson’s Garage, Kentville. He took pride in his vegetable garden, his classic 1994 Ford truck, and his home. Laurence enjoyed entertaining his young children playing guitar and mouth organ. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Louisa "Mae" (Purdy); daughters, Patricia (Randy) Irvine, Aylesford Lake; Theresa Bennett (Andrew Zwicker), Kentville; Leona (Ron) Keddy, Canaan; Sandra Brown, Kentville; Lorna Jorgenson (Raymond Silvey), Vancouver Island; Andrea (Barry) Russell, Canning; sons, David (Brenda), South Williamston; Bruce, Berwick; Christopher (Tammy Hagar), Brooklyn Corner; a sister, Lorraine (Edward "Ned") Trask, Mochelle; 21 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Gordon (in infancy) and Donald. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 14, 2019 in St. James Anglican Church, Kentville, Reverend Doctor John Roddam officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. in St. Edward’s Anglican Cemetery, Clementsport. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to St. James Anglican Church, Kentville, the Old St. Edward’s Church Cemetery fund, Clementsport or the Canadian Cancer Society. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Valley Regional Hospital as well as the Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses for their care, kindness and compassion. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
