Mr. J. Roderick Munn
J. Roderick Munn - 68, of Kentville, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at home. Born in Marshfield, Prince Edward Island, he was a son of the late John R. and Helen (Terrell) Munn. He graduated from Acadia University, Wolfville, where he studied both geology and education. He later taught at both the former Cornwallis District High School and Horton District High School. During his teaching career he taught over 5000 students. He was a member of St. George's Masonic Lodge, Wolfville, was a licensed pilot and enjoyed skydiving. He also enjoyed traveling to Europe and the Middle East. Rod is survived by his wife, the former Cheryl Small; a daughter, Jennifer (Dave) Cayley, Elora, Ontario; a son, Christopher John (Tanya), Coldbrook; two sisters, Millicent (William) MacCannell and Marguerite Melanson, both of Florida; three grandchildren, Luke and Duncan Munn, Sophie Cayley. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. A public Masonic funeral service followed by a reception will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 2, 2009 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Burial will take place at a later date in the Presbyterian Cemetery, Marshfield, Prince Edward Island. Family flowers only by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Shriner's Hospital (Burn Unit), St. Georges Masonic Lodge or the Valley Regional Hospital – Carey Me Program (Palliative Care).
