Mrs. Joyce Elaine Pick
1932-2010
Joyce Elaine Pick … 77, of White Rock, Kings County, passed away
Friday, February 5, 2010 in Orchard Hall, Kentville. Born in Vernon
Mines, Mountain Front, Kings County, she was a daughter of the late
Levi and Annie May (Keizer) Crandall. In her younger years, she had
been employed as a housekeeper in Cape Breton, Halifax and the
Annapolis Valley. She was primarily a homemaker, painter and crafter.
In addition to painting, she enjoyed other arts such as knitting,
crocheting, pottery and quilting. She even taught her late husband to
quilt when he was 80. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed going for
evening drives where she would deposit lupin seeds along the roadside
during her travels. She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Pick, White
Rock; a son, Phillip (Tracey), Sunken Lake, Kings County; five
grandchildren, Ian, William, Levi, Clayton and Lorna; two sisters,
Hazel Melanson, Woodville and Muriel Young, Waterville; two brothers,
Raymond (Lois) Crandall and Earl (Jean) Crandall, both of New Minas;
several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 55
years, Elmer; a son, Kenneth; a sister, Patricia “Pat”
Roy; two brothers, Willis and Howard. Cremation has taken place and
there will be no visitation by family request. The funeral service,
followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February
9, 2010 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Shelley
Pick officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the White
Rock Cemetery, Kings County. Donations in memory may be made to the
Parkinson Foundation of Canada or the Alzheimer Society. Funeral
arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and
Cremation Services, Kentville.
