Margaret Irene "Peggy" Karamitsos
Margaret Irene “Peggy” Karamitsos - 66, of Kentville, passed away Friday, August 27, 2010 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Windsor, she was a daughter of the late Chester and Mabel (Hartley) Upshaw. She was retired, having been employed with Maple Leaf Foods for over 30 years. Peggy was a very active member of the Kentville Lions Club as well as the Absolute Health Club, New Minas. She was a well-known photographer in the valley, having photographed many weddings and other events. She also had a fondness for convertibles. Peggy enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her two grandchildren, Noah and Caleb, who were the love of her life. She is survived by a daughter, Maria (Michael) Karamitsos-Moody, Cambridge; a sister, Verna Sampson (Danny Bechard), Coldbrook; two brothers, Raymond (Ida), Windsor; Irvin (Linda), St. Hubert, Quebec; two grandchildren, Noah and Caleb; several nieces and nephews and many special friends. She was a kind-hearted woman with a great sense of humour and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, August 30, 2010 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2010, Reverend Garnet Parker and Reverend Doctor Judith Saunders officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. No flowers, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Valley Regional Hospital - ICU. Special thanks to Dr. Adam Clarke and the ICU nurses of the Valley Regional Hospital. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
