H. Campbell "Cam" MacPhail

H. Campbell "Cam" MacPhail - 94, of Coldbrook, Kings County, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, Sunday, May 13, 2012 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville.  Born in New Glasgow, he was the son of the late Thomas "Harry" and Blanche (Hardy) MacPhail. Throughout his working career, he was employed in the grocery business, retiring from Atlantic Wholesalers at the age of 65. He also owned and operated MacPhail’s Red and White Store, Coldbrook. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed bowling and gardening. In his younger years, he played competitive softball, baseball and hockey. Cam and his wife often visited Oaklawn Zoo where they spent many enjoyable hours. He is survived by two daughters, Diane MacPhail, Eastern Passage; Camille "Kim" MacPhail (Danny Milsom), Halifax; two sons, Gerald "Gerry" (Anne Marie), Dartmouth; Robert "Bobby" (Donna), Loon Lake, Kings County; grandchildren, Robbie, Michael, Jayne (Andrew Graham), Carla (Timmy Bowser), Barbara, Alexandra, Elizabeth (B.J.) Cochrane and Drew (Mariella Nalepa); great grandchildren, Selena, Campbell, Jack and Leland; special nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by his wife, the former J. Ruth Urquhart; a sister, Elizabeth; four brothers, Dougie, Keith, Don and Foster. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2012, Reverend Ray A. Francis officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Telford Cemetery, Pictou County. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Telford Cemetery, the Valley Regional Hospital - ICU or Oaklawn Zoo. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
