Samuel Solomon Sherman

Samuel Solomon Sherman - 93, formerly of Kentville, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2014 in Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born in Poland, he was a son of the late Chaim and Nesha Sherman. He worked in the garment industry in Montreal and later moved to Nova Scotia. In his earlier years, he enjoyed dancing and skating and was an avid stamp collector. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle (Townsend) Sherman; two sons, Elliot (Pauline Dicaire), Ottawa; David (Nancy Lee), Morin Heights, Quebec; a step-daughter, Lynn Townsend, Ottawa; a step-son, Leslie "Russ" Hake (Vicki Zietsoff), Cranbrook, British Columbia; a sister, Faye (Aaron) Rand, Spring Valley, New York; three grandchildren, Rivkah, Adam and Amadee; a great grandchild, Danika. He was predeceased by his first wife, Esther; two brothers, Morris and Nathan. In keeping with Jewish tradition, some family members gathered immediately following his death in the home of David and Nancy on March 29, 2014. An informal memorial will be held from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2014 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. A private family burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
