Douglas Miller Anthony - 73, of New Minas, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014 in the QEII Infirmary Site, Halifax. Born in the Noel Shore, Hants County, he was a son of the late Byron Grant and Mildred Ruth (Miller) Anthony. He retired from the Canadian Armed Forces following 26 years of service and later worked as a Commissionaire with the Corps of Commissionaires at the airport and Michelin. He was a former member of the Noel Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion and enjoyed playing darts and listening to Hank Williams. He was known by various family members as Gramp, Papa, Pops and Dougie Doo. He is survived by his wife, Carolann (Milne); a daughter, Janice (James) Buell, Ottawa; a step-son, Christopher (Jennifer) Poberezny, Kentville; grandchildren, Amber, Kentville; Melissa, Toronto; Jordan, Ottawa and Jannea, Kentville; two great grandchildren, Dyson and Jaxson; siblings, Eva (Gerry) Kingston, New Brunswick; Wayne (Marilyn), Noel Shore; Katie (Laurie) Demont, Nine Mile River; Wanda Miller (Stanley), North Noel Road; step-mother-in-law, Pauline Milne; sisters-in-law, Ina (Norman) Palmer, Dorothy (Kenneth) Barron; brothers-in-law, Sam Milne (Ruby, deceased) and Donald (Jean) Milne; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Lucey Brazeau; siblings, Ralph (Jane), Marion Sarson, Winifred Hill, Kenneth and an infant sister, Bessy Katherine; mother and father-in-law, Ruth and Laurence Milne; brothers-in-law, Calvin (Dorothy) Milne, Lonnie (Ann) Milne, Gerry (Phyllis) (Pauline) Milne; sister-in-law, Shirley (Lorne) Fraser. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2014 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Doctor Randy Crozsman officiating. A reception will follow in the reception room. Burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Family flowers only by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society.
