M. Ruth Davies
1924-2014
M. Ruth Davies - 89, of Arlington, Kings County, passed away Monday, June 30, 2014 at home. Born on October 11, 1924 in Amherst, she was the eldest daughter of the late Major Irvine and Carolyn (Salter) Bickerton. Ruth lived and worked in Toronto at St. James Cathedral and MacLean Hunter until she and her late husband, Les moved back to the valley. She is survived by three brothers, Carman (Dorothy), Robert (Fran) and Jim "Bick" (Barbara); two sisters, Marg (Jack) and Barb (Carl); many nieces, nephews and special cousin, Mary MacKay. She was predeceased by her husbands, Les Veno and Canon Sid Davies; brother, John (Evelyn). She will be missed by her beautiful cats, Tease and Lucky, who kept her company until the end. Special thanks to the VON Home Care and Katherine, Joyce, Carol, Jean, Theresa and Trudi for their tender love and caring. Thank you to Chris Boyd for all the meals he cooked for Ruth when we had all the snow and storms. Thanks to brother, Jim "Bick" and his wife, Barbara for keeping her in her home on the mountain and to Dr. Jim Seaman for always making her laugh and feel special. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014 in St. John's Anglican Church, Church Street, Port Williams, Reverend David Garrett officiating. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. Burial will take place in the Berwick Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
