Leon Beaumont Ward - 88, formerly of Centreville, Kings County and New Minas, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014 in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville. Born in Hall's Harbour, he was a son of the late Morton and Eveline (Jess) Ward. He had owned and operated his own trucking and back hoe business and was a member of the Nova Scotia Truckers Association. He enjoyed attending card parties and suppers at the Hall's Harbour Community Centre. He also loved the outdoors and working in his vegetable garden. He is survived by a daughter, Trudy Ward, Coldbrook; a son, Dean (Alanna "Lanie") Ward, Centreville; three grandchildren, Cody, Kyle and Kristin; two great grandchildren, Lorne and Robert; four sisters, Flora Collins, Centreville; Lucy (Delbert) Sheffield, Glenmont; Thelma (Phillip) Kazaoff, British Columbia; Marie Kinsman, Porters Lake; three brothers, Robie (Pat) Ward, Canning; Morley (Joanne) Ward, Hall's Harbour; Clinton Ward (partner, Sally Jess), Hall's Harbour; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, the former Wanetta Vivian Hutt; three brothers, Illsley Ward, Merrill Ward and Beverly Ward; a son-in-law, Ronald Ward. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. A private graveside service for immediate family will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014 in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Canadian Diabetes Association. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
