Lola Zara Horner

Lola Zara Horner - 93, of Kentville, Kings County, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014 in the Wolfville Nursing Home. Born in Kentville, she was a daughter of the late Albert Manning and Lillian (Pearl) (Schofield) Manning. She had been employed at CPR Hotels including the Cornwallis Inn, Muttarts Clothing Store and Maders Tobacco Store, all of Kentville. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kings Branch No. 6, Kentville, where she received several awards. She is survived by three daughters, Gail (Clarence) Young, Windsor; Helen Milne, Kentville; Lillian Horner (Reg Myra), Alberta;  two sisters, Joan Young and Mona Benjamin, both of Kentville; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; sisters-in-law; Joy Manning, Greenwich and Jean Manning, Wolfville Nursing Home; brother-in-law, Donald Job, Kentville; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Russell Horner; a son, James "Jim" Horner; a son-in-law, Brian Milne; six sisters; Lida MacDonald, Annie Boylan, Frances Job, Dorothy Kirkpatrick, Mary Perrott and Rosie Maynard; four brothers, Leland "Herk", Gordon "Dub", Albert "Shine" and Harold "Bud". Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2014 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 18, 2014, Reverend Thelma McLeod officiating. Burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation, the Lung Association of Nova Scotia or to a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
