Matthew "Matt" Alan Dimock

Matthew Alan "Matt" Dimock - 35, of Blomidon, Kings County, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014 as the result of a motorcycle accident in Alberta. Born on February 26, 1979 in Kentville, he was the son of Ronald and Phyllis (Lyons) Dimock, Pereaux. Matt had a smile that could light up a room and was quick to make friends wherever he went. As a child, Matt often declared he would never live anywhere else. He graduated from Cornwallis District High School, Canning, received two diplomas from Algonquin College, Ottawa and earned a diploma as an Electronic Technician from the Nova Scotia Community College, Kingstec Campus, Kentville. In the years after graduating, his adventuring took him to Ontario, Alberta and Australia, but Matt always returned to the Annapolis Valley. At the time of his death he was working for Bigstone Oilfield Services & Supplies, Wabasca, Alberta.  Prior to that he was employed by Rafuse Home Hardware Building Centre, Wolfville. His gentle heart and generous nature gave him a natural affinity with children and animals. Matt took great pleasure in working on his farm, tending to his animals and tinkering with his bikes. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Melissa Dimock (Alan McKay), Ottawa; his maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Lyons, Shannex-Blomidon Court, Greenwich; three nephews, Isaac, Solomon and Obediah, all of Ottawa; his uncle, Fred Lyons, Blomidon; many cousins and lifelong friends.
