Mildred Mary Daley
1927-2014
Mildred Mary Daley - 86, of New Minas, Kings County formerly of Halifax, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 25, 2014 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Puisville, P.E.I., she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Marion (Gallant) Arsenault. Millie came to Nova Scotia as a young woman to pursue her career in the hospitality business. She worked many jobs and especially enjoyed her work at the Lord Nelson and Brass Rail Restaurants, she and her late husband, Victor operated the Mayflower Motel, New Minas as a successful business where they met many people who they thoroughly enjoyed. In later years she and Victor spent six months of the year at Three World's Camp Resort in Florida. Millie was a very energetic woman who never sat still for long. She was an active member of the New Minas TOPS club of which she was a "Cop" for thirty- five years. She loved her gardens and to work on her beautiful quilts. Millie was a loving mother, a proud grandmother and great grandmother. She will be sadly missed by her son, Rodney (Jeannie), Urbania, Hants County; her daughter, Cindy (Alan) Croft, Little River Lake, Kings County; granddaughters, Nicole and Lacey Croft; grandsons, Bryson, Jeffrey, Christopher Daley and Kevin Croft; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Millie was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Victor; and their son, Robert "Frosty" Daley. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was predeceased by two sisters, Olive Arsenault and Dorothy Burke; one brother, Louis Arsenault. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. There will be no visitation, by family request. A celebration of her life, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2014 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Father John MacPherson officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
