Reverend Velma Ann  Kane

Reverend Velma Ann Kane - 76, of Edmonton, formerly of Canning, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014 in Edmonton. Born in Canning, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Annie (Kelly) Kane. She taught school for 25 years and moved to Edmonton in 1985. She was a former United Church minister. She is survived by three sisters, Vivian (Benny) Barkhouse, New Minas; Sharon Webster (Alvin), Parrsboro; Verna Chaisson, Dartmouth; two brothers, Robert (Janet) Kane, Canning, Garnet (Edna) Kane, Ontario; special friends in Edmonton, Emma Wood, Doneka Simmons and special friend Ida Ripley, Montreal; nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request. The funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, August 3, 2014 in the Canning United Baptist Church, Reverend Donald Rafuse officiating. Burial will take place in the Hillaton Cemetery, Kings County. Donations in memory may be made to the S.P.C.A. or Save the Children Canada.
