Areta Margaret  Dort

The passing of Areta Margaret Dort of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Donald Dort, occurred on Friday, August 8, 2014 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on July 10, 1953 in Kentville, NS, she was the daughter of the late Bill and Amy (Wallace) Keddy. Areta was a homecare worker, seamstress, wonderful mother and beloved friend. Areta is survived by her daughter, Brittany Dort of Edmonton, AB; sons, Clint Dort (Julie Blouin) of Edmonton, AB, Darcy Dort (Josie Young) of Chipman, NB and Danny Dort (Kelly McNeill) of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Haylie Dort, Evangeline Dort, Austin Poirier, Emma Paul, Joseph Paul, Faith Summers, Liam Dort and Shaun Fellows (Alaina); great grandchildren, Kadence Fellows; sisters, Rose Wellwood (Bob) of Kentville, NS, Donna May White (Willis) of Lloydminster, AB, Deborah Keddy of Kentville, NS, Joyce Whitehead of Kentville, NS, Peggy McCacran (David) of Saint John, NB, Gail Hill (Terry) of Kentville, NS; brothers, John Keddy (Harline) of Antigonish, NS, Art Keddy (Hope) of Kentville, NS, Mike Keddy (Sharon) of Kentville, NS; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Areta was predeceased by her sister, Betty Lou Reid and brothers, Ralph, Donald and Billy Keddy. Visitation will take place at the family's home 29 Tapley Ct. Fredericton, NB on Monday August 11, 2014 from 7 to 9 pm. A Graveside service will take place on Wednesday August 13, 2014 at 2pm in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County, Pastor Christina Bigelow officiating. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of the donor’s choice.
