Evelyn Winnifred Holmes

Evelyn Winnifred (McCall) Holmes - 84, of Steam Mill, passed away peacefully at the Valley Regional Hospital on Monday, August 11, 2014. She was a daughter of the late Brenton and Kathleen (McCall) Banks. Evelyn loved to walk about her property and enjoy her modest flower and vegetable gardens. Her favourite hobby was making baby quilts. Evelyn leaves behind loving daughters, Edith Holmes, Steam Mill; Vivian (Lewis) Pick, White Rock; Dorothy (Bill) Black, Centreville; devoted son, Jack Holmes Jr., Steam Mill; stepchildren, Eva (Kenneth) Scotney, Ontario; James Holmes, New Brunswick; sister, June (Bob) Pynch, Halls Harbour; cherished aunt, Geraldine Brown, Kentville and daughter-in-law, Carolyn "Connie" Holmes, Steam Mill. She was blessed with 7 grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 11 step great grandchildren and 1 step great great grandchild. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband and best friend, Jack Holmes Sr.; stepson, Harry Holmes Sr.; sisters, Doreen Fletcher and Eileen O'Hara; brother-in-law, John O'Hara and great grandson, Brody Melanson. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 14, 2014 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2014, Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. Interment will be held in the Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeville, Kings County. Donations in memory of Evelyn may be made to the Valley Regional Hospital or the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
