Malcolm Leroy Hazel

Malcolm Leroy Hazel - 72, of Woodside, Kings County, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2014 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Glenmont, Kings County, he was a son of Mildred (Barkhouse) Hazel, Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville and the late Augustus Hazel. He had been employed as a truck driver for Shur-Gain Feeds and Needs and later doing home deliveries for Co-op Fuels. In recent years, he enjoyed tinkering in his garage as a back yard mechanic and was able to fix any problem he was working on. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, the former Jean Barkhouse; two daughters, Barb (Dale) Lockyer, Lethbridge, Alberta; Karen Hazel, New Minas; a son, Ron Hazel, Canning; five sisters, Betty Sheffield, Kentville; Shirley Wood and Audrey Joudrey, both of New Minas; Ruth (Allan) Ettinger, Steam Mill; Joan (Victor) Cox, Sheffield Mills; two brothers, Allison (Gladys), Canning; Delbert (Winnifred), Sheffield Mills; two granddaughters, four grandsons, four great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2014 in Valley Cornerstone Pentecostal Assembly, Hillaton, Reverend David Elliott officiating. No flowers, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
