Lewis William "Bill" Grady - 62, of Kentville, NS. With heavy hearts, we regret to announce the sudden passing of Bill on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at home. He was born in Guysborough to the late Lewis and Annie (Diggins) Grady. Bill is survived by his wife, Oonagh (O'Rourke), Kentville; sisters, Annie (Jim) Peters, Pleasant Valley; Florence (Jim) Brown, Enfield; Pat (Gary) Colter and Darlene (David) Langille, both of Cole Harbour; brothers, Dan (Gloria), Port Hawkesbury; Walter, Antigonish; Alex (Donna), Cole Harbour; Ron (Wanda), Mira Gut. Bill graduated from St. Francis Xavier University with a BA in 1973, a BEd in 1974 and a MEd in 1982. He was an avid curler and loved to golf and fish. Teaching was his passion and his students meant everything to him. Following his retirement from Port Williams Elementary School, he taught in Harrington Harbour, Quebec; South Indian Lake, Manitoba and Pelican Narrows, Saskatchewan. Visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 28, 2014 in the White Family Funeral Home, 100 Cornwallis Street, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 29, 2014 in St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, St. Francis Harbour, Guysborough County, Father Angus MacGillivray officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
