Max Harold Lockhart

Well Known Funeral Director Passes Away

Max Harold Lockhart - 71, of New Albany, Annapolis County, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2014, with his loving wife by his side, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Avonport, Kings County, he was a son of the late Harold and Ellen (Carey) Lockhart. Max began his funeral career in New Glasgow, Pictou County in 1965 and when he had an opportunity to move back to his home roots of the Annapolis Valley in 1969 he came willingly. He then served the valley communities from Wolfville to Annapolis Royal as an unpretentious, humble, compassionate and dedicated funeral director for over 48 years. He loved his family and the times we could all be together; the last being the two weeks before he was admitted to the hospital. He especially enjoyed his Koffee Klub, card club and golf pals. Max loved life and he loved people. He never found it hard to be accepted wherever he lived. He leaves behind to mourn his loss, his wife, the former Mary McCarron; daughters, Jennifer (Jonathan) Zinck, Timmins, Ontario; Suellen (Justin) Wood, Digby; sons, Max Jr. (Bonnie Wentzell), Kentville; Michael (Nikkitta Miller), Brooks, Alberta; sisters, Kay (Ralph) Stirling, Wallbrook; Donna Lockhart, Wolfville; brother, Philip (Ann), Kentville; grandchildren, Nathan and Molly Zinck; Taylor and Owen Wood.
