Greta May MacIntyre

Greta May MacIntyre - 87, of New Minas, passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2014 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kingsport, she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Gertrude (Huntley) Barkhouse. She had been employed as a clerk at the former Dominion Store, Kentville and also enjoyed being a homemaker. She later worked at Saunders Tartans and Gifts, New Minas. She had been a member of Bethany Memorial Baptist Church, Aldershot. She is survived by four daughters, Sheila (Randall) Huntley, Wilmot; Carole MacIntyre (Terry Hay), Halifax; Jacqueline MacIntyre, Centreville; Marilyn MacIntyre, New Minas; four sons, Robert "Mike" (Sharon) Cleveland, New Minas; Gordie Cleveland, South Shore; Norman (Cheryl) MacIntyre Jr., New Minas; Darrell MacIntyre, Wilmot; three sisters, Venetta Frampton, Kentville; Jean Salyzyn, Kentville; Muriel Piche, British Columbia; seven grandchildren, Dylan, Roby, Star, Kelly, Jolene, Amanda and Amy; several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Norman MacIntyre Sr.; a daughter, Brenda Anderson; three sisters, Olga Weare, Glayda Brown and Norma Barkhouse; two brothers, Elden Barkhouse and Delbert Carey. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 7, 2014, Reverend Marc Potvin officiating. A private family burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
